Just a little moonlight kitchen cupboard painting going on tonight at the Hop & Vine Inn. When we first moved in, we had no intentions of updating spaces WE use (such as the main kitchen) until all the guest spaces were how we wanted them. We've now put our spin on every room (although I know I'll always continue crafting and decorating), and we've been getting requests for the use of our main kitchen for large group family reunions, marriage retreats, company retreats, women's gatherings, craft retreats, golf outtings, and more!
SO...we decided it was time to give the kitchen our Hop & Vine feel! The lower cabinets are now a color called Hale Navy and the uppers will be fresh, clean white. We're loving the feel already, and hope our future large group guests will enjoy cooking and socializing in the kitchen (that's the room is all goes down in, right??) for years to come!

Kicked off summer today at Red Dock. A super chill, outdoor restaurant set on the end of dock in Douglas / Saugatuck. Sitting there, surrounded by water, boats, and a breeze off the water, we get the feeling that we're hundreds of miles away in Key West...but we're only 5 miles up the road from the Hop & Vine Inn! The refreshing hard cider from our local apple orchard & pie pantry, Crane's out of Fennville, added to the "summer has begun" feeling. Looking forward to the best summer yet!
...we're even more excited about what's being set up in the Hop & Vine's backyard!! A gorgeous wedding reception will take place here later tonight, complete with 3 long farmhouse tables, lights strung overhead, a coffee bar, and a food truck! So happy for this lovely couple. Marriage rocks, and they are kicking it off with a one-of-a-kind celebration style all their own! Did I mention all of their guests will stay with us all weekend? Quality time to catch up, relax, and enjoy the JOY! Think of all the memories they will make!
...made our hosting heards HAPPY!! The guests are hands down the best part of this lifestyle job: "Could not have imagined a more picture perfect weekend. From the adorable B&B to the tasty eateries to the fairy-tale like sunsets, we loved every minute of it. Can't wait to come back!!!"
We just love seeing the trees bloom here in Fennville, Michigan! The flowers too! There is something about this Lake Michigan climate they love. Maybe it's all that SNOW in the winter, or maybe it's the rain showers at night. Either way, they sure brighten up the Hop & Vine and surrounding neighborhoods of Saugatuck & Douglas!
It's a super cool bird feeder! I'll be popping this "Wild Birds of Joy" feeder right on one of the sun porch windows for some extra entertainment while guests sip their morning coffee. If you (or your kids) get a kick out of bird watching from SUPER close-up, this is for you!
The sun porch is already a very popular place for guests to eat breakfast, and hang out watching their kids play on the playground or volleyball court. In addition to the yard games filling up one corner, it's currently full of seedlings and baby flowers that will be heading out into the yard shortly. Are we safe to put them outdoors yet? Is it really spring now??
Double rainbows are always cool, but when they are right over your B&B, they are even more exciting! I ran out to capture some photos, and was already in the middle of the yard when I realized my umbrella was a wreck and only half open. #soaked #worthit
